Dallas to San Diego

I left Dallas in a heat advisory and landed in sunny, 70° San Diego.

The sea lion/human relationship in La Jolla is a serious example of coexisting. Imagine a zoo of sea lions with no fences. I give you La Jolla.

This guy got hooked on something and had a lot of people feeling pretty worried. He just sat there sun bathing and looking noble while people tried to get him some help.
We stayed in a waterfront hotel in La Jolla, called Pantai Inn. The room was very private, the view was incomparable and the small touches took hospitality to a new level.
Each night they left a sweet snack with a hand decorated card on the bed, a cherry on top of a perfect stay. Also I need to know the make and model of that bed. We slept like rocks. Serenading us to sleep each night was the sound of the waves crashing and an occasional bark from a sea lion.

Kayaking in the Pacific was the highlight for me. Crashing through the freezing cold waves to get out to the flat water had me hysterically laughing instead of paddling... as my backseat driver kept reminding me.

We paddled through some caves while sea lion swirled through the water around us. It was all very adventurous and that's what vacations should be made of.

After kayaking we got cleaned up, flounced over to Eddy V's and parked ourselves on their fabulous patio overlooking THE SAME SPOT WE WERE JUST KAYAKING. My shrimp were every-bite-keeps-getting-better-good and the mojito, breeze and view was a recipe for bliss.
See those kayaks down there? That's where our day's adventure started. That cliff has caves all through it leading to a small, hidden beach.

We also had a blast at the zoo. It was about the same as your normal zoo but with a baby giraffe, running grizzly bears and lazy pandas. Booze is also readily available so that's always fun.

We left San Diego in a heat advisory which is hilarious because it was 75° and beautiful. The only time I broke a sweat was in the back seat of a rent car. Until I rolled the window down.
